For seven decades, the World Press Photo Foundation has been working from its home in Amsterdam as an independent, nonprofit organization. In that time, the world has changed continuously, and new developments in the media and technology have transformed journalism and storytelling. Our mission has expanded, and we draw on our experience to guide visual journalists, storytellers, and audiences around the world through this challenging and exciting landscape.
The Programs team is looking for an intern to work with us for six months, starting on 16 June 2025, for 4-5 days per week.
Internship Programs Team (0,8-1 fte) 6 months
Responsibilities
Programs and education support
Day-to-day administrative support;
Supporting development and implementation of education activities;
Assisting in the preparation of education and outreach events, online and offline;
Conducting research to support projects;
Communicating and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders;
Updating photographer databases.
Event production
Supporting the organization of the Joop Swart Masterclass leading up to and during the event on 3-7 November 2025;
Working with vendors and venues, researching program ideas, drafting and sending out invitations, tracking RSVPs, reaching out to target groups, assembling materials and content;
Assisting and collaborating with different teams to make the event a success;
Liaising with different stakeholders, which may include suppliers, partners, photographers etc.
Your profile
You are currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program;
You have a demonstrated interest in photography, media and/or arts and culture;
You are a quick-thinking self-starter with the ability to multitask;
You are creative, well organized and have a good eye for detail;
You are fluent in English, both written and spoken. Additional languages would be an advantage;
You have strong interpersonal and intercultural communication skills;
You are living in or near Amsterdam.
Our offer
The World Press Photo Foundation is an independent, non-profit organization with its office in Amsterdam. The total staff of the organization is 26 and the Programs team is six people.
We offer an internship with a variety of tasks and responsibilities in a dynamic working atmosphere. You will get the chance to work in a highly purpose driven environment and learn from behind the scenes of the core of the organization: the annual contest. During your internship you will be supervised by the members of the Programs team.
Ideally, we would like you to start in mid-June, just before the Joop Swart Masterclass starts, for a period of 6 months. However, the start date, duration of the internship and hours per week can be discussed during the interview stage.
We currently offer the opportunity to work hybrid from office and home, with two or more days a week at the office.
We offer compensation of €500 (net/full-time) per month, and when applicable a travel or working from home allowance.
