Internship - Curatorial Affairs Team

32 hours a week | Hybrid | start 1 February 2025 | 5 months | Amsterdam

The World Press Photo Foundation believes in the power of showing, and the importance of seeing high-quality visual stories. Our purpose is to connect the world to the stories that matter. We are a global platform connecting professionals and audiences through trustworthy visual journalism and storytelling, founded in 1955 when a group of Dutch photographers organized a contest (“World Press Photo”) to expose their work to an international audience. Our annual contest rewards the best in photojournalism and documentary photography. Our worldwide exhibitions and online channels with over 2 million followers showcase stories that make people stop, think, feel and act. The World Press Photo Foundation is a creative, independent, nonprofit organization, based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

The Curatorial Affairs Team at World Press Photo is currently looking for an enthusiastic intern to collaborate with us for 5 months, starting from 1 February 2025.

Internship Curatorial Affairs Team (0,8 fte) - 5 months

The Curatorial Affairs Team currently consists of three people who work on the production of exhibitions at World Press Photo. The main focus of the Curatorial Affairs team is the annual exhibition, which travels to locations around the world. We also create an annual yearbook, audio guide to accompany the exhibition, and provide translated didactics for our international portfolio of partners. We also develop thematic exhibitions, based on images from the World Press Photo archive.

We have a very short production lead time and therefore are looking for an eager and hard-working individual who is motivated and has a hands-on approach and most importantly, is excited to learn about exhibition production from behind the scenes.

Each year, our exhibitions travel to 80 locations in 40 countries around the world. The internship will provide insight into many different aspects of the exhibition process, from curation of exhibitions based on the winning work, to creating an international audio tour, and developing the touring exhibition that begins in early May. As a full member of the team, you will gain hands-on experience and work towards the delivery of the team’s mission, with a special focus on the production of the flagship exhibition in Amsterdam and the traveling exhibition. For more information about the exhibitions program, please visit: https://www.worldpressphoto.org/exhibitions
